Telecom Luxembourg Performances 2011Capellen, 26 January 2012 – Telecom Luxembourg will announce today that it achieved a turnover of €9,4 million in 2011, an increase of 75% over the previous year. This trend for steady, reliable growth has enabled Telecom Luxembourg to post a healthy gross operating margin (EBITDA), barely two years after its launch as a telecom operator – a remarkable feat, unrivalled in the sector in which it operates.

“As the leading alternative B-to-B operator in Luxembourg, we are now an important part of the national strategy for transforming the Grand Duchy into a centre of excellence for the digital economy at the heart of Europe”, pronounced Jérôme Grandidier, CEO of Telecom Luxembourg. “We can now focus on achieving yet another double-digit increase in 2012, while continuing to consolidate our structure and build on our market position”

Thanks to government initiatives which have paved the way for the creation of a datacentre and connectivity infrastructure (LuxConnect) which puts Luxembourg at the forefront of Europe, Telecom Luxembourg has managed to attract new customers in the online gaming, telecommunications and media sectors, thus enhancing Luxembourg’s appeal and competitiveness as a centre. Telecom Luxembourg has thus become the spearhead of the telecommunications industry, aiming to make Luxembourg the European hub for the information superhighway.

Telecom Luxembourg currently employs 55 associates and is acknowledged in Luxembourg and beyond as a dynamic, high quality operator which provides its corporate and institutional clientele with the facilities to operate highly reliable and accessible information systems. As part of this, Telecom Luxembourg established 150 new points of presence (P0P) in Europe over the course of 2011.

“In the light of the excellent results and the effective strategy being implemented by the Telecom Luxembourg management, I see the future of this operator as extremely encouraging, in spite of the continued hostility of the original operator”, stressed Jean-Claude Bintz, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “It was only the creation of a second mobile operator in 1998 which revitalised the market and brought prices down. Over 20 years later, and following the creation of LuxConnect and the arrival of Telecom Luxembourg, corporate clients can finally reap the benefits of real competition on this market, which had long been dominated by one single operator, thus proving the need for healthy competition in this country”.
